Frequently Asked Questions

Check-in is between 4:00 - 10:00 PM and check-out is at 11:00 AM. Feel free to inquire about an earlier check-in or a later check-out. I will be happy to accommodate you if possible.

We want to keep the woods natural and quiet, so parking is provided just off the main gravel driveway. We are happy to transport you and your belongings in the golf cart. Otherwise, it is an easy, 5-minute walk between the parking area and the glampsite.

We don't have the ability to charge electric cars on-site. There is a 'Park-N-Drive' lot in Roscoe Village, just a few minutes down the road. We can provide charging for E-Bikes.

We tell our guests to pack the same types of things they'd take to a hotel. Below is a list of just a few personal items that might enhance your stay just a bit more:

ESSENTIAL 

- Good walking shoes or boots, something that can get muddy when the weather turns.

- Comfortable, seasonal clothes.  You are off-grid, so there are no mechanical forms of air conditioning. We do have ceiling fans and a heater in the cottage for chilly nights.

- Music for the Bluetooth speakers.

- Food & Drink.

- Bathing Suit

- Fishing gear (We have some provided, but you might have your favorite lucky rod).

- Food & Drink, Cooler with Ice, Condiments, Oil & Vinegar, Spices, Salt & Pepper.

- Foils & Wraps, Paper Towels, Trash Bags.

- Barbecue Lighter or Matches.

- Charcoal for the Grill.

OPTIONAL

- Portable Stove, Gas Bottle.

- Any of your Favorite Camping Gear.

Your first bundle of firewood, with a starter, is included. You are also welcome to burn any deadwood found lying on the forest floor that fits inside the firepit with the screened lid on. We also have seasoned bundles, with a fire starter included, available for purchase at HQ. Note that this firewood is chopped to fit into your firepit.

Our healthy forest is home to all sorts of insect life. But between the birds, frogs, turtles, fish, and dragonflies, the population is kept in check. So yes, you are likely to encounter bugs, but not swarms.

We try to mitigate encounters with the creepy crawlies in several ways. The canvas cottage is fully screened, so keeping the door zipped up or closed is key. There are hand brooms located throughout to gently brush away spiders and their webs.

Our woods are also home to lots of creatures, so it's important to keep all food and trash secure. Otherwise, you're likely to have a close encounter with a raccoon or skunk. You are very likely to see deer, so take care while driving your car around here - especially at dusk. Our dog Spirit, a Great Pyreness mix, protects the property from any worrying wildlife. He is otherwise, very friendly and may spend time hanging out with you if you wish. If you're not a dog person, we are happy to put a location collar on him that keeps him close to his home.

The Bombay Belle glampsite is an ideal romantic get-away meant for two adults only. It is in no way a child friendly environment.

Although you will be off-grid, there is a portable power unit rated for 500 watts at The Bombay Belle glampsite.  This is capable of running several small appliances, such as laptops and CPAP machines. There are also banks of USB ports for charging your cell phone or tablet at both sites.

The Bombay Belle glampsite is supplied with fresh, filtered potable well water. It has been tested and deemed safe for drinking, washing, and cooking. This is the same well that supplies the entire property, including the cottage in which we live.

The Tribal Tipi has access to this water via a faucet on the side of The Watershed, located nearby. We provide our glampers with buckets for hauling the water to the tipi site.

Cell service is typically available, but being in such a rural area, it can be spotty for some providers. There is no Wifi provided at the glampsite.

There is no air conditioning in the canvas cottages. The glampsites are under the shade of the forest canopy, which does an excellent job of keeping it several degrees cooler. The ceiling fans above the bed and the large screened windows and door should also help to cool the space.

During the cooler months, we provide The Bombay Belle site with a propane heater. It runs off a thermostat. and easily maintains a nice cozy temperature. There is no heater provided for the Tribal Tipi.

It's all part of experiencing the great outdoors. Our canvas cottages are waterproof and spacious enough to be comfortable. If persistent rain threatens to dampen your glamping experience, we suggest that you hang out at HQ where there's lots to keep you entertained.

If you're staying in The Bombay Belle:

• Drop the window awning poles if you find the weather intruding on the interior. 
• Move the dining table and chairs underneath the kitchen area for a dry place to dine. 
• Use the canvas cover (located inside the copper side table) to keep the cold fire pit dry and ready for the next use. 

If you are staying in The Tribal Tipi:

• Walk the smoke hole flap poles around toward the front and rest them against the rocks on the deck.
• Ensure the tipi door flap is dropped, and that the bathroom door is zipped shut.
• Move your gear, cots and mattresses toward the inner edges on the tipi.

Note that should a violent storm occur, such as a tornado or strong winds, your safety should be your main priority.
